LBD a plenty

I may still be on the hunt for a graduation ball dress but at least I found myself a new piece of work uniform...! This came in a delivery a couple of weeks ago and I finally tried it on on Monday and went to collect it today. It's probably the least expensive dress I've seen in French Connection (£40) but still has those much-loved shoulder pads (seriously, I can't have a dress without them these days) and a really nice, body con shape. It's versatile so I can wear it with heels or just brogues when my feet have had enough come closing time and I'll definitely be using it for nights out.

I also may have purchased a black jersey skirt which goes with absolutely everything...whoops. All of this happened in the half an hour I had to kill before I went off for a meeting with the magazine. I shouldn't be left alone really.

Speaking of the magazine, it's all going really well and I now have my own desk, Mac and leather wheely chair. Ha, you know you're going somewhere when you have a proper chair. Last months issue alongside the student guide that I did a LOT of work for is now out and we're just putting the finishing touches to next months issue and planning a little for the Christmas one. Yikes. Gift guides and festive photo shoots a plenty.

Westwood ring candy

Currently having a serious crave for Vivienne Westwood jewellery. I spent the afternoon drooling over the rings and wondering how I'm ever going to justify spending £100 plus on something I'll probably loose on a silly night out.

If I win the lottery, however, this is what I'd get my mitts on...

Coco Rocha & James Conran // Dream Wedding

I know I'm very late with the hype surrounding this video but since finally looking for it on YouTube last week, I have been fascinated with it. I literally watched it open-mouthed at how stunning it all was. Dream wedding, indeed. Oh, and Coco is beyond beautiful.

Yes please

And so the love affair with Lazy Oaf continues...

I think I forgot to mention that my wonderful friendlings bought me that Lazy Oaf unicorn necklace, that I posted in a wishlist type thing a couple of months ago, for my 21st birthday. It's amazing.

Bestival

I haven't the energy to write a proper post on all the magical happenings from this weekend at Bestival on the Isle of Wight. I'm feeling pretty tired, unwell and a bit sad now I'm home and back to reality but overall, it was a great weekend full of tunes, dancing, splashing about in mud, cider, big laughs and general good times. I'd like to say my favourite was Mumford and Sons but unfortunately, their set was annoyingly quiet and we were so far back that the sound of the conversations of those surrounding us took over. I still love them to bits and as usual got a little teary but it was a disappointment. Highlights were The xx, who, attracted a ridiculously huge crowd and I spent the set crushed between two lads which wasn't as pleasant as it sounds. But anyway, they were amazing and I'm glad they won the Mercury prize. Also on the list, is Dizzee Rascal which was generally just a lot of fun and Milly and I were joined by our school friend Hannah which was really nice and made it all that little bit better. Plus, Hot Chip, Caspa and a new favourite band of mine, Villagers. I spotify'd them as soon as I got home today and although they're a little depressing like dear Mumford and Sons, I think they're the bees knees. There were so many other little highlights (dancing like a bit of a slut to Frisky by Tinie Tempah is a secret favourite moment) and things I loved, like the Magic Meadow area and the Alice in Wonderland bit with massive cut outs of the girl herself alongside beds for people to take a disco nap on. It did rain on the Saturday which was a little bit rubbish but the sun came out just before everyone paraded down to the main stage in fancy dress. I went as a unicorn but I should really be ashamed...gold clothing and a cardboard horn was hardly going to win me the best dressed prize now was it?

Anyway, I had a blast but it's back to reality tomorrow and it's getting me down.

The Woman AW2010

Not only was I extremely excited about waving goodbye to that wretched sale rail at work earlier in the week but also really intrigued to see the new collections coming in. On Monday, we launched 'Pack One' - lots of monochrome, some Parisian styles and then some random bits which I'm still not sure about.

The VM came in yesterday to help us style it and there's so much stuff that I want; some I can get for uniform and some I may just have to save up for.

The new ad campaign for The Woman is also worth checking out. It's so French Connection; simple, sleek, a little polished, feminine, sultry and chic. The stripey dress in the video is also now on the shop floor and is another possible addition to my wish list. I've never been one for looking polished and sleek, but I think I'm slowly starting to adapt to it and appreciating it. Maybe it's time I hid those grubby plimsolls... never.
